Classes

• Refuge Church, 21 Broadway Ave., Manor, will offer free cooking classes from 10 a.m. to noon June 28 and 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. June 30. Additional sessions will be Aug. 23 and 25. All skill levels welcome. Free childcare will be available. Reservations required. Reservations: tinyurl.com/msw9y475.

• A free seminar, “Property Taxes 101,” will be offered from 6 to 7 p.m. June 25 in the commissioners meeting rooms of the Westmoreland County Courthouse, 2 N. Main St., Greensburg. Fundraisers

• Latrobe Art Center will present “A Taste of the Neighborhood: Pizza, Brews and More!” at 6 p.m. Friday at the center, 819 Ligonier St. Enjoy a night of sampling local restaurant specialties including pizza, appetizers, brews and more from a selection of local eateries and breweries. Cost: $40; arts center members, $30. Must be 21. Tickets: 724-537-7011 or latrobeartcener.org. Proceeds will benefit the centers operations, educational programs and community events.

• Lincoln Heights Civic Association will have bingo from 1 to 3 p.m. Thursday at the center, 42 Millersdale Road, Hempfield. There will be 20 regular games and five quickies. Payout is 50-50. Free coffee. Cost: 25 cents for a three-card board; $1 for quickies.

Health

• Southmoreland School District will participate in the free USDA Summer Food Service Program weekdays Monday through Aug. 1, rain or shine. There will be no meals June 27 and July 3 and 4. Children 18 and younger may participate and meals must be consumed on-site. Seating will be available. Meals will be served from 11:45 a.m. to 1:15 p.m. at Loucks Park, noon to 12:45 p.m. at Barclay Park and 12:15 to 1 p.m. at Everson Centennial Park. There will be giveaways and prizes at all sites. • An American Red Cross Blood community blood drive will be from 11:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. June 26 in the Mother of Sorrows Church hall, 4202 Old William Penn Highway, Murrysville. Appointments recommended, but walk-ins are welcome. Appointments: 800-733-2767 or visit redcross blood.org.

History

• Baltzer Meyer Historical Society will sponsor a program, “Metaphysics and the Paranormal: The Science Behind the Haunt,” from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday at Harrold Hall, 642 Baltzer Meyer Pike, Greensburg. Jay Blackburn will be the speaker.

Meeting

• Golden Dome Knitting Guild will meet at 7 p.m. Thursday at Trinity United Church of Christ, 139 N. Main St., Greensburg. The program will be a tutorial of the Kitchener stitch and eye of partridge stitch. Bring something that you made or are working on and items for Feeding the Spirit and chemo caps. Senior citizen news

• Irwin Senior Activity Center, 310 Oak St., will have spring bingo at 12:15 p.m. Tuesday. Line dancing will be offered at noon Wednesday. Registration for events and lunch required at least one day in advance. Donations are accepted for all activities. Details: 724-787-1760.

• Level Green Seniors will meet at 11 a.m. Thursday at the Level Green Lions Community Building, 123 Murrys­ville Road, Penn Township. Veterans news

• A veterans service officer will be available from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesday in the office of state Rep. Jill Cooper, 105 Pfeffer Road, suite 5, Washington Township. Services available will include disability and pension claims, benefit questions, assisting spouses with survivor benefits issues and applications for veterans grants. Appointments will be accepted, but walk-ins are welcome. Appointments: 724-387-9113.
