Westmoreland happenings: Craft show, UPG fall play, more

Art

• The Loyalhannon Spinners Guild will host a free display of some of their finished works and the raw fleece and tools used to get wool ready for spinning through Nov. 14 during regular operating hours at the Greensburg Hempfield Area Library, 237 S. Pennsylvania Ave., Greensburg. Membership in the group is open to anyone who is interested in spinning, weaving, knitting, felting, crocheting, rug hooking, basket weaving and other fiber arts. Fundraisers

• St. Stephen Orthodox Church, 1520 Susan Drive, Unity, will collect Christmas shoe boxes for veterans from 10 a.m. to noon Nov. 23, and Dec. 14 and 21, and from 11 a.m. to noon Sundays. Boxes should be gift wrapped and contain books, playing cards, boxed candy, shampoo and deodorant. No razors, mouthwash or aerosols please. • A Christmas vendor and craft show will be from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Nov. 16 at St. John the Evangelist Parish hall, 306 St. John Drive, Latrobe. There will be more than 40 local crafters, a basket raffle and a 50-50. Food will be sold by the parish Altar Society. Proceeds will be donated to Inclusive Connections.

Health

• The Westmoreland County Area Agency Caregiver Support Group will meet from 1 to 3 p.m. Nov. 13 at the McKenna Center for Active Adults, 971 Old Salem Road, Greensburg. New members welcome. Details: Denise Dieter, 724-830-4484 or 800-442-8000.

Meeting

• South Hills Coin Club will meet at 7:30 p.m. Nov. 12 at the Bethel Park Municipal Building, 5100 W. Library Ave. There will be a 50-50 raffle and prizes for children. The program will be about Mel Fisher. Public welcome. Membership applications are being accepted. Details: 724-984-6611.

Senior Citizen News

• Irwin Senior Activity Center, 310 Oak St., will host an AARP program about tax information at 10 a.m. Nov. 12. A craft workshop to make a cork tree will be at 11:30 a.m. Nov. 14. Donations of Christmas-themed cotton fabric and big empty spools are requested. Donations are accepted for all activities. Details: 724-787-1760.

Theater

• The University of Pittsburgh-­Greensburg Theater Company will present “Blithe Spirit” by Noel Coward at 7:30 p.m. Nov. 14, 15 and 16 and 2:30 p.m. Nov. 17 in the Ferguson Theater in Smith Hall of the campus, 150 Finoli Drive, Hempfield.
