Westmoreland happenings: Designer purse bash, safe driving class, stuffed chicken dinner, more

Children’s event
• Protect PT’s Environmental Education Center will sponsor a free winter wildlife seminar for children in kindergarten through sixth grade from 1 to 3 p.m. Feb. 5 at the center, 3344 Route 130, Harrison City. Classes
• A Seniors for Safe Driving class will be offered from 12:30 to 4:30 p.m. Feb. 15 at Redstone Highlands, 12921 Lincoln Highway, North Huntingdon. The class is PennDOT approved and for drivers who are at least 55 years old. Safe drivers can receive a 5% discount on auto insurance for three years. Cost: $16. Fundraisers
• The Penn-Trafford Competitive Cheer team will showcase their skills at a performance set for 7 p.m. Feb. 1 at the high school, 3381 Route 130, Harrison City. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. There will be games, basket raffles, baked goods and a 50/50. Donations will be accepted to fund the team’s trip to the nationals competition.
• A takeout stuffed chicken breast dinner to benefit the West Newton Women’s Club will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Feb. 4 at Gary’s Chuckwagon, 109 Second St., West Newton. Menu: stuffed chicken breast, mashed potatoes, coleslaw, green beans, roll and butter and dessert. Tickets and information: 724-872-3551.
• Sam’s Club Greensburg will sponsor a Valentine’s designer purse bash and luncheon to benefit Children’s Miracle Network from noon to 4 p.m. Feb. 5 at the Antonelli Event Center, 100 Colony Drive, Irwin. A prize will be awarded to the person wearing the most Valentine’s Day inspired outfit. There will be a basket raffle, specialty cocktails, special purse drawings and a 50/50. Cost: $50. • Community Revitalization of West Newton will host a prom for adults Feb. 25 in the West Newton gymnasium. Doors open at 4 p.m. Food will be catered by Rodney’s Restaurant and the Pittsburgh Belairs will provide entertainment. Cost: $65 each. Proceeds will be used to renovate the gym. Sports

• A job expo and open house will be from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Feb. 1 at the Greensburg YMCA, 101 S.
