Church news
• The Caring Closet at Greensburg Church of the Brethren, 554 Stanton St., is open from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesdays. Free food, clothing, shoes and more available. Canned and non-perishable food donations are welcome. Call the church to arrange for a pickup. Details: 724-834-2130.
• Community Church of Hecla will have a Maundy Thursday service with Communion at 7 p.m. April 14; a Vesper service at 5 p.m. April 16; and an Easter service at 10:30 a.m. April 17, all at the church, 537 Hecla Road, Mt. Pleasant Township. Details: 724-423-6553.
• Union Presbyterian Church, 656 Route 380, Washington Township, will host an Easter breakfast at 9 a.m. April 17. The Easter worship service will be at 10 a.m. Details: unionpresbychurch.com.
Fundraisers
• United Way of Southwestern Pennsylvania is collecting new full-sized hygiene products, care items and magazines to create personal care kits that will be donated to domestic violence and women’s shelters in the area. To donate, complete the collection drive form at bit.ly/WomensCareKits and drop off or have the items shipped to one of the three United Way offices by April 27. The Westmoreland office is located at 1011 Old Salem Road, Greensburg PA 15601.

Special event
• The Murrysville Lions Club and Murrysville Recreation Department will host a free lecture about national and regional crime cases at 7 p.m. April 28 in the Murrysville Community Center, 3091 Carson Ave. Dave Grace, a retired senior special agent for the Department of Justice, will be the guest speaker.
