Westmoreland happenings: Egg-your-yard fundraiser, spring breakfast, art tournament, more
Art
• River Art Works will sponsor an art tournament on May 3 at Mammoth Park, 254 County Park Road, Mt. Pleasant Township. Artists will paint for 30 minutes and the crowd decides the winner. There will be four rounds and one final round. Registration: $30; children, $15; sign up before April 18 receive a $10 discount. Cash prizes. Reservations and details: RiverArtWorks.org.
Fundraisers
• Norwin High School Softball is accepting reservations from Norwin Area School District residents for an Egg My Yard fundraiser. The team will decorate your yard with goody-filled Easter eggs on Easter morning. Cost: 100 eggs, $75; 50 eggs, $40; 30 eggs, $30; and 20 eggs, $20. Donations of plastic eggs, non-chocolate candy and cash are being accepted. Order deadline: April 11. • Congruity Church, 136 Fenneltown Road, New Alexandria, will sponsor a rummage sale with lunch and a bake sale from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. April 5 at the church. A bag sale will be at 1 p.m. Details: 724-668-7740.
• Jeannette American Legion will host bingo at 1 p.m. April 6 at the post, 109 S. Fifth St. Doors open at 11:30 a.m. Cost: $25 per packet, includes regular and special games. • Mon Valley Paws will host a meet-and-greet from 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. April 5 at His Place, 100 Third St. Monessen. Pet food will be collected for local shelters and patrons will receive a 10% discount on their orders. Details: 724-493-8305.

• St. James Church, New Alexandria, will have a spring breakfast with a bake sale and basket raffle from 8 a.m. to noon April 6 at the church. Menu: ham, sausage, pancakes, eggs, potatoes, juice, coffee and tea. Cost: $10; age 6 to 12, $5; younger than 6, free. Sponsored by the church Holy Name and Rosary Altar societies. • The 18th annual Westmoreland UFO Conference will be from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. April 5 in the science building at Westmoreland County Community College, 145 Pavilion Lane, Hempfield. Check-in will begin at 8:30 a.m. Speakers will include James Krug, John Ventre, Joe Jordan. Michael Schratt, Thomas Reed and Hank Baughman. Cost: $35, at the door. Details: 724-836-1266.
