• St. James Parish will host an intergenerational seminar series, “Receive, Believe, Transform,” on the Holy Eucharist at 10:30 a.m. Oct. 5, 12 and 26 in the church social hall, 306 St. James Lane, Salem. Families are welcome. A session for children will also be available at the same time. Brunch will be served afterward.
Festival
• Community Revitalization of West Newton will sponsor a fall fun day from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Oct. 11 in Cort Street Park. There will be free scarecrow building, pumpkin carving, hot cocoa and apple cider. A pumpkin-rolling race will begin at 2 p.m. with cash awards. Cost: $5 per pumpkin. Fundraisers
• A community yard sale will be from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Oct. 4 in Southwest Greensburg. Rain or shine. Sponsored by Southwest Greensburg Civic Society.
• The fifth annual Anything With Wheels show, “Red, White and Cruise,” will be from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Oct. 4 at the Unity Township American Legion, 158 American Legion Road. Vehicle entry fee: $10. There will be a DJ, basket raffle and a 50-50. The kitchen will offer both breakfast and lunch items from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sponsored by the Sons of the American Legion. Details: 724-493-3419.
• Olive Branch Baptist Church, 296 Route 981, Rostraver, will host its monthly clothing and bake sale from 9:30 to 11 a.m. Oct. 4 at the church. Profits are used to help those in need.
• Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church will sell chicken and biscuit dinners from 4 to 7 p.m. Oct. 4 at the Cook Township Community Center, Route 711, Stahlstown. Dine in or takeout. Menu: biscuits, chicken and gravy, mashed potatoes, green beans, applesauce and dessert. Cost: $9; children, $6.
• Jeannette American Legion will host bingo at 1 p.m. Oct. 5 at the post, 109 S. Fifth St. Doors open at 11:30 a.m. Cost: $25 per packet, includes regular and special games. There will be a $750 jackpot game, magic number, door prizes and 50-50. The kitchen will be open. Smoke-free venue. Proceeds benefit veterans and community activities. Details: Rick, 724-600-5061.

• Westmoreland Area Nurses Association will meet at 4 p.m. Oct. 6 at the Boulevard, 900 Towne Square Drive, Hempfield. No reservations required. Details: Cordie, 412-841-8529.
Senior Citizen News
• Super Seniors of Westmoreland County will meet at noon Oct. 7 at Community United Methodist Church, 3487 Route 130, Trafford. Halloween costumes optional. Lunch cost: $2. There will be entertainment after the meeting. New members welcome. There will be no meeting in November due to the election. Reservations: Theresa Barry, 724-875-4813.
