Westmoreland happenings: Festival of Trees, poultry bingo, food drive, more
Fundraisers
• St. James Lutheran Church, Youngstown, will have a Festival of Trees 11:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 22, at the church, 4329 Route 982. More than 50 decorated trees will be auctioned. There will be food, drinks, a bake sale, free children’s crafts and photos with Santa from 1 to 3 p.m.
• Delmont Police Department and the Westmoreland Food Bank will collect nonperishable food items 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 23, at the borough garage, 30 Bierer St. Most needed items include canned meat, fish, fruit and vegetables, peanut butter, cereal, macaroni and cheese and boxed meals. A donation bin will also be available 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. Dec. 22 at the Light Up Delmont event.
• The Christian Mothers and Ladies of Seven Dolors Parish will sponsor a poultry bingo and pie social Sunday, Nov. 23, in the church social hall, 102 Center St., Yukon. Doors open at noon and bingo will begin at 1 p.m. Cost: $10, includes one board, pie and coffee; extra boards, $2 each. Food will be sold and there will be a basket raffle and 50-50.
• An all-you-can-eat pancake breakfast will be held 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 23, at Roosevelt Hall, 2325 Mt. Pleasant Road, Norvelt. Menu: pancakes, Belgian waffles with strawberries and whipped cream, sausage and breakfast beverages. Cost: $7; 6 to 12, $3; younger than 6, free. Sponsored by Mt. Pleasant Township Lions Club and Norvelt Volunteer Fire Department.
