Westmoreland happenings: Fire museum program, meeting, art exhibit, more
Art
• The Greensburg Art Center and the Greensburg Hempfield Area Library will sponsor an exhibition by artist D’anna Kromer from Friday through Nov. 15 at the library, 237 S. Pennsylvania Ave., Greensburg. A free opening reception will be from 5 to 7 to p.m. Friday. Public welcome. Details: greensburgart center.org.
Fundraisers
• The Holy Name Society of St. Pius X Catholic Church, Mt. Pleasant, will host an all-you-can-eat omelet breakfast from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sunday in the church social hall, 224 Summit St. There will be a 50-50 raffle. Cost: $10; age 3 to 12, $3; younger than 3, free.
• Westmoreland Historical Society will host its antiques and collectibles market Sunday at Historic Hanna’s Town, 809 Forbes Trail Road, Hempfield. Some vendors will be set up and selling Saturday and the rest will be open from 7:30 a.m. until early Sunday afternoon. Admission: $5 per car. A portion of parking revenues benefit the Forbes Road Volunteer Fire Department. This is the last market of the season. Details and space rentals: 724-836-1800 or westmorelandhistory.org.
History
• The Baltzer Meyer Historical Society will sponsor a program about the Greensburg Volunteer Fire Department Museum 1 to 3 p.m. Sunday at the society building, 642 Baltzer Meyer Pike. Rich Johnson will be the speaker.
Meeting
• The Braddock Trail chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution will meet Saturday at the chapter house, 200 S. Church St., Mt. Pleasant. Lunch will be at noon and the meeting will be at 1 p.m. Debra Davis will present a program about the Whiskey Rebellion.
Workshop
• Lower Valley Writers will sponsor a workshop about point of view in fiction followed by a reading of the six winning stories in the group’s Flash Fiction Contest from 2 to 4:45 p.m. Oct. 18 at Ligonier Valley Library, 120 W. Main St., Ligonier. Public welcome. Reservations required by Oct. 14. Reservations: jgallagher@hotot.com.
