Penn State Extension will offer a workshop from its Mental Wellness Garden series, “Helping Others In Distress,” noon to 1 p.m. March 10 at the Westmoreland Conservation District, 218 Donohoe Road, hempfield. Topics will include maintaining positive mental health and exploring how garden practices can support overall well-being. Cost: $20. Reservations required by March 5. Fundraisers

• St. Mary Byzantine Catholic Church, Herminie, will sponsor a hobbit-inspired buffet brunch 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. March 14 in the church hall, 7 Second St. All ages are welcome, and there will be games, crafts and a costume contest. Advance tickets required. Cost: $25; children, $5. Tickets: 412-206-1608.

• A Lenten spaghetti dinner will be served 5 to 7 p.m. March 7 in the social hall of Harrold Zion Lutheran Church, 671 Baltzer Meyer Pike, Hempfield. Menu: pastas, sauces, bread, desserts and a salad bar. Donations will be accepted to benefit the Lenten Season World Relief Project of Beehives and the church general fund.

• Latrobe Center for Active Adults, 15 Avenue C, will sponsor a basket raffle starting at 2 p.m. March 7 at the center. Doors open at 10 a.m. There will be more than 125 baskets, food and pull-tab drawings for a 50-inch television, a lottery basket and a golf package. Cost: $10, includes 25 regular basket raffle tickets, grilled hot dog, sides, dessert and beverage. Proceeds will fund activities, projects and entertainment at the center. • Olive Branch Baptist Church, 296 Route 981, Rostraver, will host its monthly clothing sale 9:30 to 11 a.m. March 7 at the church. Outerwear and boots will be 50% off. Donations of clean, used clothing in black plastic bags are welcome and can be placed on the porch at the rear of the building. Proceeds are used to help those in need.

• The Cook Farm 250th Celebration planned 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Aug. 8 is accepting applications for crafters and food vendors to participate at the event at the farm, 347 Cooks Road, Rostraver. Sponsored by the Pennsylvania Farm Show and Rostraver Township Historical Society. Applications: thecookfarm250thcelebration.com.

Sports

Rostraver Sportsmen Club and Conservation Association will sponsor a public range day noon to 4 p.m. March 7 at the club, 539 Cedar Creek Road, Rostraver. The public can use the club’s 100-yard range for $5 per person per hour. Additional time can be purchased if lanes are available; however, those waiting for their first session will receive priority. Bring your own equipment. Eye and ear protection is required at all times by participants and spectators. Details: rostraverSCA.org.

Seminar

Ligonier Valley Historical Society will host a fireside chat 1:30 to 3 p.m. March 12 at the Compass Inn Museum, 1386 Route 30, Laughlintown. Emily Barth from the McCarl Coverlet Gallery at St. Vincent College will discuss “Tomfoolery, Hijinks and Shenanigans: the Histories of Where Words Come From.” Cost: $5, plus fees.
