Fundraisers
• Lutheran Church of Our Saviour, 1570 Clay Pike, North Huntingdon, will sponsor its annual spring rummage sale from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. April 28 and 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. April 29 at the church. Food will be available.
• First Presbyterian Church will have its 52nd annual tag sale from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. April 28 and 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. April 29 in Laird Hall, 3202 N. Hills Road, Murrysville.
• St. James Lutheran Church, 4329 Route 982, Youngstown, will host its annual Strawberry Festival from 3 to 6 p.m. April 29 at the church. Menu: ham barbeques, potato salad, baked beans, cake, strawberries and ice cream, pop and water. Dine in or takeout.
• God’s Re-Creation Christian Center, McKeesport, will sponsor a ladies afternoon tea at 1 p.m. April 29 at the Hall at Robbins Station, 129 Robbins Station Road, Irwin. Doors open at noon for vendor shopping and photographs. Cost: $35. Tickets: grcctea.eventbrite.com.
• Delmont Lions Club will sponsor an all-you-can-eat pancake breakfast from 8 a.m. to noon April 29 at St. John de la Salle Church, 497 Athena Drive, Delmont. Menu: pancakes, sausage, fruit and beverages; $7; younger than 12, $5. There will be a basket raffle. Proceeds will benefit local charities.
• The Weeders and Seeders Garden Club of Ligonier will host a May Day basket contest from noon to 5 p.m. on the Ligonier Diamond. Judging by garden club members will begin at 1 p.m. Free flowers will be distributed to visitors by participating merchants.
• A spring breakfast and bake sale will be from 8 a.m. to noon April 30 at St. James Church, 306 St. James Lane, New Alexandria. Menu: ham, sausage, pancakes, eggs, potatoes, juice, coffee and tea. Cost: $10; age 6 to 12, $5; younger than 6, free. There will be a basket raffle. Sponsored by the parish Holy Name and Rosary Altar societies. Details: 724-668-2829.

Health
• The Early Intervention Team of the Westmoreland Intermediate Unit will host a kids health and wellness fair from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. April 29 at Westmoreland Mall. Over 30 organizations will have free presentations, resources, hand-outs, giveaways, interactive activities, and hourly door prizes. Free vision screenings for children will be offered by the Lions Club, and free children’s dental screenings will be offered by Golden Dental.
• A free seminar about diabetic foot care and ulcers will be at 6 p.m. May 9 in the south entrance community rooms at Excela Square at Norwin, 8775 Norwin Ave., North Huntingdon. Drs. Allen Dzambo and Patrick Roberto will be the speakers. Reservations required: 877-771-1234.
Library News
Adams Memorial Library, Latrobe, will offer a free program, “May the Fourth Be With You: Star Wars Day,” from 10 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. May 4 at the library, 1112 Ligonier St. There will be Star Wars-related crafts in-house and take-home activities for children and adults. Meetings
• Westmoreland Area Nurses Association will meet at 4 p.m. May 1 at The Boulevard Restaurant, 900 Towne Square Drive, Hempfield. Reunion letters will be prepared for mailing. Details: Cordie, 412-841-8529.
• The Botanical Society of Westmoreland County will meet at 6 p.m. May 3 in the red Conservation Barn, 218 Donohoe Road, Hempfield. The annual plant sale fundraiser will be after the business meeting. Members are encouraged to bring their extra perennials, annuals, herbs and vegetable plants to auction off. Potted plants must be in fresh commercial potting soil due to the invasive Asian jumping worm that may be in local soil. Light refreshments will be served afterward. Annual dues are now payable.
Music
• The Chapel Youth Choir and Festive Ringers from Abington Presbyterian Church near Philadelphia will present a concert at 7:30 p.m. April 28 in the sanctuary of First Presbyterian Church of Greensburg, 300 S. Main St., Greensburg. Donations will be accepted for the Montreat Worship and Music Youth Scholarship.
Special event
• The 15th annual Westmoreland UFO Conference will be from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. April 29 at Westmoreland County Community College, 145 Pavilion Lane, Hempfield. Check-in will begin at 8:30 a.m. Speakers will include Ray Keller, Bill Birnes, Fred Saluga, James Krug, John Doucette and Tony Lavorgne.
