Submissions from nonprofit organizations for Briefly Speaking can be emailed to cpinto-smith@triblive.com. Include a complete address and daytime phone number. Submissions are due at least two weeks prior to the event. Each announcement is printed once; there is no fee.

Art

• An art show featuring the works of artists Nancy Rusbosin and Becky Mormack will continue through July 28 at the Greensburg Art Center, 230 Todd School Road, Hempfield. An opening reception will be from 4 to 6 p.m. July 18. A percentage of sales will be donated to charity. A closing reception will be from 5 to 7 p.m. July 28. Details: 724-837-6791.

Church News

• Level Green Presbyterian Church, 105 Olive Drive, Penn Township, will have its annual ice cream Sunday at 10 a.m. July 16 at the church. Local first responders and therapy dog teams will attend and there will be a free ice cream sundae buffet, face painting and children’s crafts. Those attending are asked bring a new teddy bear for donation to the Blackburn Center and to first responders for use with children during traumatic situations. The church worship service will be at 9 a.m. Public welcome.

• St. James Church, New Alexandria, will have all-day Eucharistic Adoration July 18 for the Feast of St. Camillus de Lellis, patron saint of nurses, the sick and hospitals. Mass will be celebrated at 8 a.m. and adoration will continue afterward until Benediction at 6 p.m. Drop in anytime during the day. Details: 724-668-2829.

Fundraisers

• Pups on the Patio, a fundraiser to benefit Mon Valley Paws, will be from 5 to 9 p.m. July 15 at the Tap Factory, 164 Coyle Curtin Road, Fallowfield. Leashed, well-behaved pets welcome. Adoptable pets will be on hand and there will be a basket sale and pet food and supply collection drive. Details: 724-493-8305.

• Downtown West Newton Inc. and West Newton Moose will have a spaghetti dinner from 5 to 7:30 p.m. July 15 at the Moose, 102 S. Water St. Menu: spaghetti, side salad, bread and butter and homemade desserts, $12. Dinners will be the third Saturday of each month. Funds raised will be used to pay for the Christmas snowflakes that were purchased for next year. Tickets: 724-872-7264 or 724-872-0100.

• Mt. Pleasant American Legion Auxiliary will sponsor a sandwich and bake sale at 10 a.m. July 15 at the post, 752 W. Main St. The post golf outing will be July 29.

• Downtown West Newton Inc. will host its 16th annual Roctoberfest Car Cruise July 16 at the West Newton Lions Field, 511 Pittsburgh St. Rain date: July 23. Vehicle registration: $10 beginning at 11 a.m. There will be a DJ, basket raffle, lottery tree raffle, food and a 50/50. Details: 724-872-0100.

Health

• An American Red Cross community blood drive will be from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. July 17 at Charter Oak Church, 449 Frye Farm Road, Unity. Donors will receive a free T-shirt and refreshments, while supplies last. Walk-ins are welcome, but appointments are preferred. Library News

• Adams Memorial Library, 1112 Ligonier St., Latrobe, will offer a free in-person interactive comedy program with the Spoon Man at 6 p.m. July 17 at the library. Appropriate for families. Reservations required: 724-539-1972.

Meeting

Reunion

Special events

• Penn State Master Gardeners will host a free open house from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. July 15 at their flagship demonstration garden, 214 Donohoe Road, Hempfield. Rain or shine. Visitors can stroll at their own pace and Master Gardeners will be available to answer questions. Refreshments will be available.

• The annual ParentWISE Family Funday Sundae will be from noon to 3 p.m. July 16 at Lynch Field, Greensburg. There will be free activities for all ages and children will receive a coupon good for a free ice cream sundae from the Lynch Field Dairy Queen. Those attending are asked to bring a new children’s book for donation.

Veterans News

• Norwin Elks, the Pennsylvania National Guard and Westmoreland County Food Bank will host a Military Share food distribution from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Aug. 3 at the Elks, 135 Elks Lane, Manor. Westmoreland County veterans, surviving spouses and active-duty personnel including National Guard and Reserve personnel are welcome. Reservations required by July 20. Please bring a DD-214, Military ID – active or retired or VA card. Reservations: 717-836-4903.
