Fundraisers
• Community Revitalization of West Newton will sponsor a golf ball drop at 8 p.m. Saturday, July 19, in Vine Street Park. Three hundred balls will be dropped from a bucket truck and the closest to the bull’s-eye will receive half of the take. Winner need not be present. Cost: $5 per ball. Details: crown15089@yahoo.com.
• St. Regis Parish, Trafford, will have a community festival from 6 to 10 p.m. Friday and Saturday, July 18 and 19, on the church grounds, 517 Homewood Ave. There will be food, beer, games and a DJ. Details: 412-372-4577.

History
• Baltzer Meyer Historical Society will sponsor a program about becoming an American aviator during World War I from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, July 16, at Harrold Hall, 642 Baltzer Meyer Pike, Hempfield. James Sagan will be the speaker.
Senior Citizens
• Irwin Senior Activity Center, 310 Oak St., will celebrate National Hot Dog Day at lunch on Wednesday. A shell craft workshop will be at 11:30 a.m. Thursday, July 17. Registration for events and lunch required at least one day in advance. Donations are accepted for all activities. Details: 724-787-1760.
• A Seniors for Safe Driving class will be offered from 3 to 7 p.m. Aug. 21 at Caldwell Memorial Library, 982 N. Chestnut St. Ext., Derry. The class is PennDOT approved and for drivers who are at least 55 years old. Safe drivers can receive a 5% discount on auto insurance for three years. Cost: $17. Veterans News
• A veterans service officer will be available from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday, June 18, in the office of state Rep. Jill Cooper, 105 Pfeffer Road, Suite 5, Washington Township. Services available will include disability and pension claims, benefit questions, assisting spouses with survivor benefits issues and applications for veterans grants. Appointments will be accepted, but walk-ins are welcome. Appointments: 724-387-9113.
