Westmoreland happenings: greenery sale, holiday events, more

Fundraisers

• Greensburg Garden Center will have its annual Christmas sale from 1 to 7 p.m. Dec. 1 and 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Dec. 2 at the center, 951 Old Salem Road in Greensburg. Items available will include wreaths, hanging baskets, kissing balls, pine roping and small hostess, artificial décor and handmade items. Advance orders required for fresh greens. • The Westmoreland Land Trust will participate in the Give Big Pittsburgh fundraiser on Nov. 28. Details: 724-325-3031 or westmoreland-landtrust.org.

Holiday Events

• The West Newton Christmas in My Hometown event will be Nov. 25. There will be a vendors and makers market from 3 to 8:30 p.m. at West Newton United Presbyterian Church and West Newton Center for Active Adults. A parade will begin at 5:30 p.m. on South Fifth Street and the community Christmas tree on South Second Street will be lit afterward. Visits with Santa and Mrs. Claus will begin at 6:30 p.m. and there will be performances on the main stage all evening.

Senior Citizen News

• The Norwin High School Show Choir will perform a holiday concert at 2 p.m. Nov. 30 at the Irwin Senior Activity Center, 310 Oak St. Donations will be accepted. Reservations required: 724-787-1760.

• Herminie Center for Active Adults, 101 Sewickley Ave., rear, will have a free hot chocolate bar Nov. 27 during the 2 p.m. bingo intermission. Bingo starts at 1 p.m. Details: 724-446-3282.

Special Events

• Christian Life Church, 900 Seventh St., Trafford, will host registration for the Toys for Tots distribution for residents of Penn Township, Export and Murrysville from 4 to 6 p.m. Nov. 26 and 2 to 4 p.m. Dec. 2 in the church lobby. Donations of new, unwrapped toys will be accepted until Dec. 12 in the church lobby. Toy distribution will be from 4 to 6 p.m. Dec. 17. Details: 412-856-4420.
