Fundraisers

• An oldies dance will be held 7 to 10 p.m. Saturday at the Yukon Slovenian Hall Ballroom, 137 Yukon Ave. Music will be by Memory Lane. Everyone welcome. Details: 724-722-9700.

• Salem Lutheran Church, Delmont, will serve a roast beef dinner 4:30 to 7 p.m. Nov. 1 at the church, 301 E. Pittsburgh St. Cost: $20; 6 to 12, $7; 5 and younger, free. Tickets: 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Mondays and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Thursdays in the church office.

• A craft and vendor show will be 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at St. James Lutheran Church, 4359 Route 982, Youngstown. Food and baked goods will be sold. Free admission.

• First United Church of Christ, Irwin, will host an Oktoberfest 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the church, 400 Main St. Menu: kielbasa, pork, hot dogs, sauerkraut, mashed potatoes, applesauce and dessert. Cost: $12; children, $6. Advance tickets required. Tickets: 724-863-0430.

• Unity Township American Legion will sponsor a spaghetti dinner and family movie night Oct. 27 at the post, 158 American Legion Road. Dinner will be held 4:30 until the movie begins at 6:15 p.m. The featured film will be “Beetlejuice.” Menu: spaghetti with two meatballs, side salad, bread and butter; children’s menu: chicken tenders and macaroni and cheese. Cost: $12; 13 and younger, $8. No outside food or beverages permitted. Wear a green costume to enter to win a prize. Reservations required. Reservations: Heather, 724-493-3419.

• A flash sale to benefit Mon Valley Paws will be held 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Friday at Steel City Tattoo, 1735 Grand Blvd., Monessen. A percentage of sales will be donated. No appointments required; service will be first-come, first-served. Tattoos on arms and legs only. Details: 724-493-8305.

• Stoneybrook Foundation will sponsor a bingo Nov. 1 at West Point Volunteer Firehall, 100 Volunteer Drive, Hempfield. Doors open at 11 a.m. and bingo will start at 1 p.m. Cost: $30, includes a packet and lunch. There will be a basket raffle, strip tickets and 50-50. Halloween events

• Mon Valley Paws will sponsor a free pet costume contest 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at Pet Supplies Plus, 101 Sara Way, Rostraver. Prizes will be awarded for best skeleton, scariest, most creative, best group, funniest, best small and large and best overall costume. Winners will be notified by phone or email. • A free trunk-or-treat for children 12 and younger will be held at noon Saturday at Cook Township Community Center, 1714 Route 711. Pizza will be served and there will be games, prizes and a costume parade. Public welcome to arrive at 11 a.m. to decorate their vehicle trunk and pass out candy. • Ligonier Valley Historical Society will host its Haunted Halloween Tales events 6 to 9 p.m. Friday through Sunday at the Compass Inn Museum, 1386 Route 30, Laughlintown. Docents in period costumes will tell stories of real hauntings and mysterious happenings. Cost: $15; 62 and older, $13; 6 to 17, $10; 5 and younger, active military and society members, free. • West Newton will have its annual Halloween party and community celebration 5 to 10 p.m. Saturday in the Vine Street Park and in West Newton Gym. There will be food, live music and costume contests for all members of the family, including pets.

Senior citizen news

• Irwin Senior Activity Center, 310 Oak St., will have a program about breast cancer awareness at 10 a.m. Tuesday. Wear pink clothing. A penny auction will be at 11:30 a.m. Thursday. Registration for events and lunch required at least one day in advance. Donations are accepted for all activities. Details: 724-787-1760.
