Classes/programs

• Saint Vincent College, 300 Fraser Purchase Road, Latrobe has planned days of observances to commemorate the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.:

— Mass of Celebration will be held 12:05 p.m. Monday in the Mary, Mother of Wisdom Chapel. Following the Mass, a dream center will be created in the Carey Center lounge, along with the opportunity to participate in arts and crafts and other activities.

— Dinner Celebration is planned 4:30 p.m. Tuesday in the Fred M. Rogers Center. Dr. Ivan Lamourt, assistant headmaster for student life at St. Benedict Prep in Newark, New Jersey, will serve as the guest speaker. Tickets for the dinner are required for entry. • Mt. Pleasant Public Library, 120 S. Church St. will host these programs:

— 1:30-2:30 p.m. today, story hour.

— 11:30 a.m. Thursday, crochet/knit

• Events at Westmoreland Museum of American Art, 221 N. Main St., Greensburg:

— Quilting workshop with Tina Brewer, 1-4 p.m. Sunday . Cost: $60 or $50 for members.

— Sewing, quilting and fiber arts drop-in, 1-3 p.m. Jan. 27.

• YWCA Westmoreland County’s Technology Center, 424 N. Main St., Greensburg, plans these February classes: Be Aware, 9:15 a.m.-12:15 p.m. Feb. 19, (Be aware of many things that can steal your identity or infect your electronic devices.), Microsoft Publisher 2019; Brush up on Word and Excel Skills; Microsoft Outlook 2019; Microsoft Excel 2019 beginners; Facebook for 50 plus; Microsoft Word 2019 - intermediate; QuickBooks; Technology Q&A. • Greensburg Hempfield Area Library, 237 S. Pennsylvania Ave.:

— 6-7:30 p.m., Thursday , Oooey-Gooey, Gross and Goopy! for ages 6-10.

— 11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Saturday, Read to Kaya and Friends (therapy dog program) for ages 3 and older.

— 2-3 p.m. Saturday , LEGO club for ages 6-9.

• Latrobe Area Historical Society annual reorganization meeting, 9:30 a.m. Saturday, 416 Weldon St. New memberships will be taken at $15 per individual for the year. Following the meeting, Lisa Hayes, executive director of the Westmoreland County Historical Society, will present a program on the new educational center at Historic Hanna’s Town.

• A still life painting workshop with Doreen Currie is planned 11 a.m.-4 p.m. Jan. 26 in Southern Alleghenies Museum of Art at Ligonier Valley, One Boucher Lane and Route 711 South. Special events

• Notre Dame Club of Greensburg/Uniontown will visit Congregation Emanu-El, 222 N. Main St., Greensburg Friday beginning with a 7 p.m. Sabbath service, followed by a conversation with Rabbi Staci Pedersohn. Reservations by Thursday at ndclubgu@alumni.nd.edu.

Trips

• Westmoreland Woodlands Improvement Association is sponsoring a field trip to the Ames Companies’ wood mill, 135 Roaring Run Road, Champion 9 a.m. Saturday . This free event and open to the public. Details: 724-837-5271.

• Greensburg Garden Center will host a one-day bus trip to the Philadelphia Flower Show on March 6. Cost: $135, or $125 for members. Details: 724-837-0245.

Vendors wanted

Church events

• The Greensburg-Jeannette NAACP will host a celebration of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., 7 p.m. Monday, Bethel A.M.E. Church, 33 N. Spring Ave., Greensburg; guest speaker will be Pastor Frank Brown.

• Cash bash, 6-10 p.m. Jan. 26, St. John’s social hall, 416 S. Broadway St., Scottdale. Cost: $20, includes food and beverages. Details: 724-887-6714 or 724-887-3718.

• Annual bus trip to the March for Life in Washington D.C. is planned Friday . Bus will leave St. Agnes Catholic Church parking lot, 11400 St. Agnes Lane, North Huntingdon, at 6 a.m. and return to the church 10 p.m. Cost: $25, $15 for students; includes a hoagie bag lunch. Riders will cover the cost of their own dinner on the way home. To register: 724-863-2626.

• All-you-can-eat pancake breakfast, 8-10:30 a.m., Saturday, Bradenville United Methodist Church, Route 982. Menu includes sausage, apple sauce and beverage. Cost: $5.
