Art

The Westmoreland Historical Society welcomes artists to participate in “Many Stories, One Place,” a commemoration of the county’s heritage. Original artwork inspired by the county’s history in all mediums is welcome. Entry is free. Selected works will be featured as part of the America 250 programming and cash prizes will be awarded. Fundraisers

• A pancake and sausage breakfast will be from 7:30 to 10:30 a.m. Jan. 17 at the Greensburg Masonic Center, 349 Donohoe Road, Hempfield. Cost: $10; 5 to 12, $5; younger than 5, free.

• The Holy Name Society of St. Pius X Catholic Church, Mt. Pleasant, will host an all-you-can-eat omelet breakfast from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Jan. 18 in the church social hall, 224 Summit St. Dine in or takeout. There will be a 50-50 raffle. Cost: $10; age 3 to 12, $3; younger than 3, free.

MLK Day event

Westmoreland Museum of American Art will host a special day of programming and open house from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Jan. 19 to celebrate the legacy of Martin Luther King Jr. There will be a unity candle lighting ceremony, an interactive drum circle with the Ibeji Drum Ensemble, a music tribute by the Rodman Street Missionary Baptist Church, community tables hosted by local organizations, food and more. Sports

Rostraver Sportsmen’s and Conservation Association will sponsor a Chukar Challenge bird dog event Jan. 25 at the club, 559 Cedar Creek Road. Events will include singles pointing, singles flushing, puppy pointing and puppy flushing. Ribbons will be awarded to the top three in each division field. E-collars are permitted. Submissions from nonprofit organizations for Briefly Speaking should be emailed to cpinto-smith@triblive.com. Include a complete address and daytime phone number. Submissions are due at least two weeks prior to the event. Each announcement is printed once; there is no fee.
