Church News
• Christ Lutheran Church, 302 Vine St., West Newton, will sponsor “Kids of the Kingdom of Christ,” a free program for children in prekindergarten through fourth grade from noon to 1:30 p.m. Oct. 18 at the church. Children must be accompanied by an adult. There will be a story, songs, game and craft and lunch will be served. Reservations required by Oct. 15. Fundraisers
• An Oktoberfest dinner will be 4 to 7 p.m. Oct. 23 at Irwin First United Church of Christ, 400 Main St. Cost: $12; children, $6. Tickets: 724-863-0430.
• A craft show will be 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Oct. 18 at St. John the Evangelist Church, 306 St. John Drive, Latrobe. Food will be sold and there will an optional outdoor eating area.
• Jeannette Knights of Columbus hosts bingo at 7 p.m. Fridays in Mersinger Hall at Ascension Church, 615 Division St., Jeannette. Doors open at 6 p.m. and early birds begin at 6:30 p.m. Players younger than 18 must be accompanied by an adult. Smoke-free venue. Food will be available and there will be a 50-50 and instant bingos. • First Reformed United Church of Christ, Greensburg, will have a spaghetti dinner from 4 to 7 p.m. Oct. 16 at the church, 312 S. • Youngwood Lions will host their semi-annual pancake breakfast from 8 to 11 a.m. Oct. 18 at Christ Church of Youngwood, 100 Lincoln St. Menu: pancakes, sausage and eggs. Cost: $9; 6 to 12, $4.50. Dine in or takeout.
• A pancake and sausage breakfast will be from 7:30 to 10:30 a.m. Oct. 18 at the Greensburg Masonic Center, 349 Donahoe Road, Greensburg. Cost: $10; 5 to 12, $5; 4 and younger, free.
Meetings
• South Hills Coin Club will meet at 7:30 p.m. Oct. 14 at the Bethel Park Municipal Building, 5100 W. Library Ave. There will be a 50-50 raffle and prizes for children. • Greensburg College Club will meet at 7 p.m. Oct. 16 in the Laurel Room of the Greensburg Garden and Civic Center, 951 Old Salem Road, Greensburg. • Golden Dome Knitting Guild will meet at 7 p.m. Oct. 16 at Trinity United Church of Christ, 139 N. Main St., Greensburg. The program will be a demonstration of knitting in the round on a magic loop. Senior Citizen News
• Irwin Senior Activity Center, 310 Oak St., will have a question-and-answer session with Westmoreland County Commissioner Ted Kopas at 10 a.m. Oct. 14. Western Day will be observed Oct. 15. Cowboy sloppy joes will be served for lunch and everyone should wear western attire and bring a Wild West lunch item to share. There will be line and square dancing and singing campfire songs afterward. Registration for events and lunch required at least one day in advance. Donations are accepted for all activities. • Authentic Perspectives Psychological & Consulting Services will offer a free weekly support group for workers who are impacted by the state budget crisis 1 to 2:30 p.m. Thursdays at the center, 121 N. Main St., Greensburg. Reservations required. Reservations: 878-884-7158.
