Westmoreland happenings: Pet blessing, bus trip, senior citizen activities, more

Bus Trip

• Greensburg Garden Center will sponsor a bus trip June 20 to the Penn State Arboretum. There will be a lunch stop at Cracker Barrel and a nursery on the way home. Cost: $90; center members, $85. Tickets: 724-837-0245.

Fundraisers

• First Presbyterian Church of Avonmore, 518 Indiana Ave., will host a Blessing of the Animals service from 6 to 8 p.m. June 2 on the church lawn. Little Blessings Petting Zoo will bring some farm animals and refreshments will be served. Donations of newspapers, pet food, toys and cash will be accepted for Action for Animals Humane Society in Latrobe. Pets must be leashed or in a carrier.

• Union Presbyterian Church, 656 Route 380, Washington Township, will sponsor its annual car cruise from 2 to 6 p.m. June 1 at the church. There will be music, food, a basket raffle, bake sale and 50-50. Proceeds will benefit the Veterans Homeless Parsonage in Indiana, Pa. Senior Citizens

• Super Seniors of Westmoreland County will meet at noon June 4 at Community United Methodist Church, 3487 Route 130, Penn Township. Singers George Demato and Mark Hamilton will perform. Lunch reservations required by anyone who did not attend the April meeting. Cost: $2. New members welcome. Reservations: Linda Briggs, 724-744-3993.

• Irwin Senior Activity Center, 310 Oak St., will have a Memorial Day covered dish luncheon and celebrate May birthdays at 11 a.m. May 28. Dart games will be available at 1:30 p.m. May 29. Details: 724-787-1760 or mumsest@aol.com.
