Westmoreland happenings: Soup sale, turkey dinner, meetings, more
Fundraisers
• Holy Family Church will sell homemade soups and baked goods before and after the Feb. 8 and 9 Masses at the church, 225 N. Second St., West Newton. Public welcome.
• A turkey dinner will be served from 4 to 7 p.m. Feb. 8 at Community Church of Hecla, 537 Hecla Road, Mt. Pleasant Township. Dine in or takeout. Details and takeout orders: 724-516-0494 or 724-466-2855.
Meetings
• The Braddock Trail chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution will meet Feb. 8 at the chapter house, 200 S. Church St., Mt. Pleasant. Lunch will be at noon and the meeting will be at 1 p.m. The program will be the DAR Good Citizens Award winners.
• The Westmoreland County/Laurel Highlands chapter of the American Field Service high school student exchange program will meet at 7 p.m. Feb. 10 at the One Room Schoolhouse, on the grounds of AK Hutchinson Elementary School, 810 Welty St., Southwest Greensburg. Students from Turkey will serve Turkish refreshments and present a program about their country. Public welcome. Host families are needed for the 2025-26 school year. Theatre
• Greensburg Civic Theatre will present the Tony Award-winning musical “Pippin” Feb. 7 to 9 at Greensburg Garden and Civic Center, 951 Old Salem Road, Greensburg. Performances will be at 8 p.m. Feb. 7 and 8 and at 2 p.m. Feb. 9. Tickets: GCTheatre.org, and at the door if available.
Submissions from nonprofit organizations for Briefly Speaking should be emailed to cpinto-smith@triblive.com. Include a complete address and daytime phone number. Submissions are due at least two weeks prior to the event. Each announcement is printed once; there is no fee.
