Westmoreland happenings: Spaghetti dinner benefit, bingos, museum trip, more
Submissions from nonprofit organizations for Briefly Speaking can be emailed to Carol Pinto-Smith at cpinto-smith@triblive.com or mailed to Briefly Speaking, 210 Wood St., Tarentum, PA 15084. Include a complete address and daytime phone number. Submissions are due at least two weeks before the event. Each announcement is printed once; there is no fee.
Art
• The Greensburg Art Center Members’ Exhibit, “Earth, Wind and Fire,” will continue through Feb. 25. There will be a free reception and first-place award winner Brian McCall will give a talk from 1:30 to 4 p.m. Feb. 4 in the center café, 230 Todd School Road.
• Greensburg Art Center will sponsor a bus trip March 16 to the Cleveland Museum of Art. The current exhibit is, “Tudor Majesty in Renaissance England.” Cost: $60, includes transportation and museum admission. The bus will leave at 8 a.m. from the center and leave the museum at 5 p.m. Free parking is available at the center. There will be a dinner stop on the way home. Reservations are required by Feb. 8. Church news
• Greensburg Church of the Brethren will host a night of fun and fellowship for individuals and groups with developmental disabilities from 5 to 7 p.m. Mondays at the church, 554 Stanton St. Dinner is included. Participants must be accompanied by a family member or caregiver. Donations will be accepted. • A family adoration night will be at 6:30 p.m. Feb. 3 at St. James Church, 306 St. James Lane, New Alexandria. There will be music, a Gospel reading, a short homily and time for personal prayer. Details: 724-668-2829.
• Derry First United Methodist Church will have its monthly ladies lunch at noon Feb. 7 at the church, 311 N. Ligonier St. Donations will be accepted. Public welcome.

• Herminie Center for Active Adults will will have a flea market from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Feb. 3 at the center, 101 Sewickley Ave., rear. Free admission.
• West Newton Public Library, 124 N. Water St., West Newton, is having a $5 bag sale. Hours: noon to 5 p.m. Mondays and Thursdays, noon to 7 p.m. Wednesdays, and 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturdays. Details: 724-633-0798.

• Jeannette American Legion will host a bingo at 1 p.m. Feb. 5 at the post, 109 S. Fifth St. Doors open at 11:30 a.m. Cost: $25 per packet, includes regular and special games. • A spaghetti dinner to benefit the Breakiron Family who lost their home in a fire Jan. 13 will be from 4 to 9 p.m. Feb. 4 at New Alexandria Fireman’s Club, 8346 Route 22. Cost: $10. There will be a basket raffle, 50/50 and donation box.
• Bingo will be at 6:45 p.m. Feb. 2 at St. Barbara Parish, 111 Raymaley Road, Penn Township. Doors open at 5 p.m. Paper packages start at $27. • Greensburg Hempfield Area Library will offer free classes for children in fifth to eighth grade to learn coding using programmable robot Sphero. Some coding knowledge is helpful but not required.
