Westmoreland happenings: Spinning exhibit, cabbage roll dinner, meetings, more
Art
• The Loyalhannon Spinners Guild will host a free display of some of their finished works and the raw fleece and tools used to get wool ready for spinning through Nov. 14 during regular operating hours at the Greensburg Art Center, 230 Todd School Road, Hempfield. Membership in the group is open to anyone who is interested in spinning, weaving, knitting, felting, crocheting, rug hooking, basket weaving and other fiber arts. Details: 734-837-6791.
Fundraisers
• Jeannette American Legion will host bingo at 1 p.m. Nov. 3 at the post, 109 S. Fifth St. Doors open at 11:30 a.m. Cost: $25 per packet, includes regular and special games. There will be a $750 jackpot game, magic number, door prizes and 50-50. The kitchen will be open. Smoke-free venue. Proceeds benefit veterans and community activities. Details: Rick, 724-600-5061.

• A takeout cabbage roll dinner to benefit the West Newton Little House Association will be from 4 to 6 p.m. Nov. 9 at Gary’s Chuck Wagon, 109 S. Second St., West Newton. Menu: cabbage rolls, mashed potatoes, green beans, homemade roll and cake, $15. Tickets: 724-872-7937 or at the restaurant.
History
• Westmoreland Historical Society will host a free candlelight open house from 4 to 7:30 p.m. Nov. 7 at Historic Hanna’s Town, 809 Forbes Trail Road, Hempfield. There will be food samples and holiday and historically themed decorations. Admission to the current exhibit at the Westmoreland History Education Center will be free. Reunion
• Norwin High School Class of 1989 will have a reunion 6 to 9 p.m. Nov. 29 at the Elements Venue in Banco Park, 2000 Commerce Loop, North Huntingdon. Members of other classes welcome. Cash bar. Special Event
• The winning entries of the Ligonier Valley Writers’ Flash Fiction Contest will be read aloud at 2 p.m. Nov. 2 at Ligonier Valley Library, 120 W. Main St., Ligonier. Author Damian Dressick will give a talk about flash fiction and how to write it and then read some of his published stories. The event is free.
