Fundraisers

• Mon Valley Paws will sponsor an Italian hoagie sale April 26 at the corner of Monessen and Grand boulevards in Monessen. Cost: $9. Orders: 724-493-8305.

• The trio Girl Named Tom, winners of NBC’s “The Voice,” will perform at 7 p.m. May 3 at the grand opening of Laurelville Retreat Center’s new gathering place, 941 Laurelville Lane, Mt. Meetings

• Rostraver Sportsmen and Conservation Association will meet at 7:30 p.m. April 21 at the club, 539 Cedar Creek Road, Rostraver. Special Events

• In celebration of Earth Day, West Overton Village near Scottdale will host a program April 22 at 6:30 p.m. on the best times of year to plant in your garden. Becky Griffith, owner of Shadowwood Gardens in Latrobe, will share expert advice about when to plant certain vegetables and flowers to set them up for success. • A Very Special Prom for guests with special needs and their caregivers will be at noon April 26 at St. Mary’s Dome, 100 Chappell Way, Derry Township. The event is free and includes dancing, dining and the services of cosmetologists, photographers and DJs. Reservations required. Reservations: tinyurl.com/2ph82mx7.

• A free fishing derby for all ages will be held 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. April 27 at Mammoth Park, Mt. Pleasant Township. Registration begins at 7:30 a.m. at pavilion 12. Anglers 16 and older must display a valid 2025 Pennsylvania fishing license. All youth participants registered by noon will be entered into a drawing for prizes. First and second place trophies and merchandise will be awarded for longest trout, longest carp and longest other fish of legal size in adult and youth categories. The event is sponsored by the Westmoreland County Bureau of Parks and Recreation, Somerset Trust Co. and the Westmoreland County Sportsmen’s League. Veterans News

• In recognition of Military Appreciation Month in May, the Norwin Elks and the Pennsylvania National Guard and Westmoreland Food Bank will host a Military Food Share distribution 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. May 8 at the Elks Lodge, 135 Elks Lane, Manor. All Westmoreland County veterans and active-duty military including National Guard and Reserve personnel are welcome. Veterans must provide information from their DD-214, VA Card or other military ID. Reservations required by April 24. Reservations: 717-836-4903.
