Career Fair
• The University of Pittsburgh at Greensburg and Westmoreland Assists Native Talent Consortium will sponsor a free health care career fair from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Nov. 12 in the Hempfield room of Chambers Hall,, 150 Finoli Drive, Hempfield. Representatives from health care and non-health employers will be available to discuss shadowing, lab work, internships and entry-level employment. Public welcome.
Fundraisers
• St. Pius X Parish Holy Name Society will host an oldies dance from 6 to 10 p.m. Nov. 14 at the church social hall, 224 Summit St., Mt Pleasant. Cost: $5, includes beer, wine, soft drinks and snacks. There will be at 50-50 raffle.
• Bushy Run Battlefield Heritage Society will sponsor its Colonial Pirate Night fundraiser from 6 to 9 p.m. Nov. 15 at the museum, 1253 Bushy Run Road, Penn Township. • The Marines Corps Reserve Toys for Tots program and North American Railcar Operators Association will sponsor a toy and donation collection Nov. 15 on the Southwest Pennsylvania Railroad. The decorated cars will leave at 8 a.m. from Savage Intermodal in Mt. Pleasant and stops will be in Everson, Scottdale, Hunker, Youngwood Train Museum, Greengate Road, South Greensburg and Youngwood Train stations, back to Scottdale and Mt. Pleasant. • Jeannette Knights of Columbus hosts bingo at 7 p.m. Fridays in Mersinger Hall at Ascension Church, 615 Division St., Jeannette. Scholarship
• Entries are being accepted for the Pennsylvania American Legion Oratorical Contest that awards scholarships of $7,500, $5,000 and $4,000. Senior Citizen News
• Irwin Senior Activity Center, 310 Oak St., will have Honors Bingo in honor of veterans at 12:15 p.m. Nov. 11. Bring items to be donated to a member of the military such as shampoos, razors, cookies, snack cakes, deodorant, tea bags, condiments or puzzles. A penny auction will be Nov. 13. Veterans Day
• The Ligonier American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars will host a Veterans Day ceremony at 11 a.m. Nov. 11 on the west end of the Diamond in Ligonier. In case of inclement weather, the ceremony will be at the American Legion post, 109 Kelly St. The keynote speaker will be Cadet Col. Addy Witkoski, cadet commander of the Ligonier Valley High School Air Force Junior ROTC program. A light luncheon will be served afterward at the American Legion. Public welcome.
