Saint Vincent Basilica Parish, Unity, will offer the Discovering Christ course from 6 to 9 p.m. Tuesdays Jan. 20 to March 3 in the parish assembly room, 300 Fraser Purchase Road. The free series for those 18 and older will address the meaning of life and basics of the Christian faith. Dinner will be served weekly and there will be a retreat from 9 a.m to 4 p.m. Feb. 21. Fundraisers

• Community Church of Hecla, 537 Hecla Road, Mt. Pleasant Township, will host a turkey dinner 4 to 7 p.m. Jan. 10 at the church. Dine in or takeout. Details and takeout orders: 724-516-0494 or 724-466-2855.

• Jeannette American Legion will host bingo at 1 p.m. Jan. 11 at the post, 109 S. Fifth St. Doors open at 11:30 a.m. Cost: $25 per packet, includes regular and special games. There will be a $750 jackpot game, magic number, door prizes and 50-50. The kitchen will be open. Smoke-free venue. Proceeds benefit veterans and community activities. Details: Rick, 724-600-5061.

Senior citizens

A Seniors for Safe Driving class will be offered 12:30 to 4:30 p.m. Feb. 11 at Redstone Highlands, 12921 Lincoln Highway, North Huntingdon. The class is PennDOT approved and for drivers who are at least 55 years old. Safe drivers can receive a 5 percent discount on auto insurance for three years. Cost: $17. Submissions from nonprofit organizations for Briefly Speaking should be emailed to cpinto-smith@triblive.com. Include a complete address and daytime phone number. Submissions are due at least two weeks prior to the event. Each announcement is printed once; there is no fee.
