Westmoreland Library Network has a way for any Pennsylvania resident 13 and older to get a library card online while facilities are closed because of the coronavirus pandemic.
A library card enables network patrons to download materials from the eBooks and eAudio collection through the network’s Overdrive smart device application. To register for a library card online, visit WLNonline.org and click Login/Register at the bottom of the page.
County libraries and satellite offices closed Friday under guidance from the Pennsylvania Department of Education Office of Commonwealth Libraries. The move happened after Gov. Tom Wolf shut down all schools in the state for two weeks.
Patrons of the library system have been asked to keep items they have checked out until the facilities reopen. That could happen at the end of the month. Any overdue fines and fees will be waived. Nothing should be dropped off at the libraries.
To check out the network’s online collection, visit westmoreland.overdrive.com or install the Overdrive app. For details on how to use the app, visit wlnonline.org/how-do-i/use-overdrive.
