A Westmoreland County man killed in a crash over the weekend on the Pennsylvania Turnpike was driving the wrong way on the highway in Somerset County, according to state police.

Dustin Brant, 27, was traveling west in the eastbound lanes at 9:15 p.m. Friday in Jefferson Township near mile marker 100, not far from the Somerset-Westmoreland border. Troopers listed a Derry address for Brant in a news release and the Somerset County coroner had a Latrobe address. Police did not say where or how they believe Brant entered the highway in the wrong direction.

The Ford F250 pickup Brant was driving collided head-on in the left lane with a Ford van being driven by Kawon C. Mooring, 24, of Westlawn, Berks County. Brant died at the scene, while Mooring died at Conemaugh Memorial Medical Center in Johnstown.

A third vehicle, a Subaru Crosstrek, was hit with debris from the crash, police said. The two people in that vehicle were not hurt.
