Fundraisers

• The Hop Into Spring Virtual Cash Bash to benefit Action for Animals Humane Society will be at 5 p.m. March 27 on Facebook. For tickets, 50/50 and raffle chances visit one.bidpal.net/afaspringcb.

• A craft show will be from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. March 20 and 21 at Grapeville Volunteer Fire Company, 2528 Newark St., Hempfield. Doors open for vendors at 6:30 a.m. The kitchen will be open. The event is held the third weekend of each month. Reservations: grapevilleeventcenter@gmail.com

• The annual Westmoreland County March for Parks event will be March 27 at nine locations in the county, including Twin Lakes Park, Mammoth Park, and Historic Hanna’s Town. Check in is from 9 a.m. to noon. Walkers will turn in donations and contributions and those who turn in at least $30 will earn an event T-shirt or doggie bandana. Meeting

• Penn Township Senior Citizens will meet at 1 p.m. March 23 at Community United Methodist Church, 3487 Route 130, Harrison City. Face masks required.


Movie

• Laurelville Retreat Center will offer a movie, “Volendam: A Refugee Story,” at 7 p.m. March 23 and 25 on Zoom.us. The movie is about the story of 2,000 Mennonite refugees who fled the Soviet Union to post-war Germany in 1946. The first 40 minutes will be shown March 23 and the movie will finish on March 25. Afterward Jack and Ruth Scott of Scottdale will host a brief discussion. Registration required. Registration: visit the community events section at Laurelville.org or email mary@laurelville.org.


Scholarship

• The Murrysville Garden Club is accepting applications for its annual scholarship from students who live in the Franklin Regional School District or have a relative who is a member of the club. Students must be a high school senior or enrolled in a two- or four-year program at a college, community college or an accredited technical school, and intend to or already be majoring in horticulture, landscape architecture, conservation, forestry, botany, agriculture, plant pathology, environmental science, and/or allied fields. Eligibility is based on scholastic standing, financial need and general ability. Applications are available at the Franklin Regional guidance office. Deadline is May 14. Details: 724-327-3539
