Art

• The Greensburg Art Center will participate in a free dual exhibition with the Westmoreland Museum of American Art that is being presented by the Pittsburgh Watercolor Society. An exhibit will be held July 23 to Sept. 20 at the Rowe Gallery of the Greensburg Art Center. A free opening reception will be from 7 to 8:30 p.m. and a free post-party will be from 8:30 to 10:30 p.m., both on July 23. The Westmoreland Museum of American Art exhibition opening will be from 6 to 7:30 p.m. July 23 and run through Sept. 26. An online exhibit will be available after 4 p.m. July 23 at pittsburghwatercolorsociety.com


Church news

• Greater Parkview Church, Greensburg, will celebrate the 18th pastoral anniversary of its pastor Bishop Rev. Carl E. Jones Sr. and his wife, Stephanie Jones at the 10 a.m. July 25 worship service at the church, 103 Westminster Ave. Dinner will be served afterward. Public welcome.


Class

• A Seniors for Safe Driving class will be offered from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Aug. 4 at Herminie Senior Citizens Center, 101 Sewickley Ave., Herminie. The class is PennDOT approved and for drivers who are at least 55 years old. Safe drivers can receive a 5 percent discount on auto insurance for three years. Fundraisers

• A car wash will be from 9 a.m. to noon July 24 in the parking lot of Greensburg Church of the Brethren, 554 Stanton St. Donations accepted. Proceeds will help to feed the needy.

• Latrobe Area Hospital Aid Society will host a golf outing Aug. 21 at Glengarry Golf Links, 168 Lentz Road, Unity . Registration will be at 1 p.m. and golf starts at 2 p.m. Cost: $85, includes cart, small bucket of range balls, mulligan, snacks and dinner. Sponsorship opportunities available. Reservations required by Aug. 1. Checks payable to LAHAS can be mailed to Jan Mills, 120 Club Manor Road, Latrobe. Proceeds will benefit projects at Excela Health Latrobe Hospital. • Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Laurel Region will host a Bowl for Kids Luau on the Lanes adult bowling party from 6 to 8 p.m. July 30 at Hillview Bowling Lanes, 829 E. Pittsburgh St., Greensburg. • West Newton Lions will sponsor a dance from 2 to 6 p.m. Aug. 1 at the Yukon Slovenian Hall, 137 Yukon Ave., South Huntingdon. There will be a cash bar and music with DJ Glenn Raymer from 770 KFB Radio. The kitchen will be open. Must be at least 21 years old. Admission: $10 per person. • Acme Family Foundation will host a picnic from 1 to 4 p.m. July 25 at Bella Terra Vineyards, 121 Sunny Lane, East Huntingdon. Health

• Excela Health will offer Pfizer covid-19 vaccinations for those 12 and older from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. July 31 at Greater Parkview Church, 103 Westminster Ave, Greensburg. The second dose will be given from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Aug. 21 at the church. Appointments required. Those younger than 18 must have a consent form filled out by a parent or guardian. Bring a state-issued ID and insurance card if you have one. Vaccines are available at no cost, whether or not you have insurance. • West Newton Library is seeking donations of hardback adult fiction books, DVDs and paperbacks that are not more than 10 years old. Meetings

Music

• Jeannette Business Association will sponsor concerts and a food truck rally from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. July 22, and Aug. 5 and 19 in the 400 and 500 blocks of Clay Avenue and Fifth Street. Rain or shine. The Twisted Fate Band will be featured July 22 in the new Elliott Group Amphitheater. Bring a lawn chair.

• Ligonier Valley Chamber of Commerce will host free concerts at 7 p.m. Sundays through Aug. 22 in the gazebo at the Diamond. The featured group July 25 will be Community Band South. Reunion

• Retirees and former employees of Latrobe Area Hospital will have a reunion at 1 p.m. Aug. 19 at the American Slovak Society picnic area, 1710 Latrobe Derry Road, Derry Township. Bring a covered dish to share, drinks and hand sanitizer. Cost: $5, to cover rental and supplies. There will be entertainment, a silent auction and door prizes. Special events

• Greensburg-Jeannette Women in the NAACP (WIN) group will offer a event for girls age 8 to 16, “Follow Your Dreams,” from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. July 24 at the YWCA of Westmoreland County, 424 N. Main St., Greensburg. Topics will include nutrition, exercise, good manners and interviewing skills. There will be food, prizes and a question-and-answer session. Reservations requested.
