Westmoreland officials say voters who receive mail-in ballots this weekend should use drop boxes
Westmoreland County elections officials said Thursday that all 18,000-plus mail-in ballots requested for Tuesday’s primary have been sent.
Election Bureau Director JoAnn Sebastiani said the last batch of ballots, requested in the final days before the May 11 deadline, were mailed Wednesday and should arrive by this weekend.
As of Wednesday, more than 5,800 ballots had been returned to the courthouse by voters.
“If they (voters) get ballots this weekend, they should use the drop boxes,” Sebastiani said.
Drop boxes will be placed in six locations throughout the county and at the courthouse in Greensburg, which is open daily until 6 p.m. through Monday. The courthouse drop box will be open until 8 p.m. on Election Day.
Additional drop box locations will be available from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday at the Westmoreland County Community College campus near Youngwood, the school’s New Kensington and Murrysville branches, and the county probation office in Monessen.
From 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Sunday, drop boxes will be open at the WCCC’s campus near Youngwood and at the Arnold Palmer Regional Airport in Unity.
Drop boxes also will operate Saturday from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. and Sunday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Giant Slide complex at Mammoth Park in Mt. Pleasant Township.
Sebastiani said voters who requested but haven’t received their mail-in ballots by this weekend should contact the election bureau on Monday. Mail-in ballots can be reissued in person at the courthouse until polls close at 8 p.m.Tuesday.
