Nearly 500 candidates are expected to appear on the May 21 primary ballots in Westmoreland County.

Elections bureau officials on Wednesday made public the complete list of candidates seeking 173 elected offices this year.

Republican and Democratic voters will nominate candidates for state and county judges, county commissioners and row office positions, school boards, borough councils and township supervisors.

The candidate list is unofficial. Candidates will be permitted to withdraw their names from the ballot until March 27.

The last day to register to vote in the primary is April 22.
