State health officials reported one new coronavirus case in Westmoreland County on Friday as hundreds of new cases pushed the statewide total past 60,000.

The one new case brings the county’s running case count to 423. The death toll has stood at 32 since last week.

Statewide, officials added 124 deaths to the total, 89 of which come from the Department of Health’s ongoing work to catch up with the counts of individual counties.

Another 986 covid-19 cases brings the state total to 60,662.

Westmoreland and surrounding counties on Friday moved into the yellow phase of the state’s tiered reopening plan.

Across nine nursing homes in the county, 134 residents have contracted the virus and 27 have died. Another 34 employees have also tested positive.
