Westmoreland sees 23 new covid cases since Saturday

In the past two days, 23 new cases of coronavirus have been added to Westmoreland County’s total, according to a report Monday from the Pennsylvania Department of Health.

All of the new cases — eight from Sunday, 15 from Monday — have been confirmed. Four previously probable cases were confirmed as well.

There were no new deaths announced, making it 26 days since any covid-related deaths were added in the county.

According to the state’s covid-19 tracking website, there are four Westmoreland County residents currently hospitalized for the virus, none of them on a ventilator.

A total of 1,985 county residents have tested positive since the pandemic began in March, with 39,790 testing negative. Westmoreland County’s overall positivity rate stands at 4.75%.
