Westmoreland's municipal primary tiebreakers set for Friday
Four ties that occurred in the May 20 municipal primary will be broken at noon Friday in the Westmoreland County Courthouse.
There will be marbles drawn to break the ties, said Scott Ross, election bureau director.
Deborah Vernon and Cynthia Adams tied for the Democratic nomination for Arnold council with 10 votes.
Jason Cooper and Eric Letterio tied for the Republican nominations for West Newton council with 19 votes.
Jason Gagen and Marc Corna tied for a Democratic nomination for Hyde Park council with 25 votes. Both will remain on the ballot because there are four seats open, but the tiebreaker will determine in which order they will appear on the ticket in the fall.
This also will occur for Nicole Nemila and Angela Beers, who tied for a Republican nomination for Youngstown Borough with 15 votes, since there are four seats open.
Eric Hauser and Sam Leach tied for a Republican nomination for Latrobe council with 14 votes. Since Hauser is on the Democratic ballot with 36 votes, that breaks the tie. Democrats are processed first as it is the party of the state governor, Ross said.
