Complaints from neighbors about persistent foot traffic to and from a New Stanton apartment resulted in the arrest Wednesday of a 22-year-old woman on drugcharges, state police said.

Olivia J. Vandyke of Jeannette was arraigned before East Huntingdon District Judge Charles Moore on charges of manufacturing, delivery and possession of a controlled substance, possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Trooper Jake Goga investigated complaints about the apartment at New Stanton Manor, a complex managed by the Westmoreland County Housing Authority. Stanwood Elementary School in the Hempfield Area School District and the Central Westmoreland Career and Technology Center are nearby.

When Vandyke opened the door of the apartment, Goga reported seeing “several bundles of suspected heroin in plain view.”

A bundle of heroin is 10 stamp bags.

According to court records, Goga got permission from Vandyke to search the apartment. He seized several electronic digital scales, 90 additional grams of unpackaged heroin, five grams of crack cocaine, a small amount of marijuana and $2,011 in cash.

Vandyke admitted to selling drugs out of the apartment, Goga reported.

She is being held in the county jail on $10,000 bond. A preliminary hearing is scheduled Feb. 26.
