Jeannette police and Westmoreland County detectives are looking for two people they said are involved in a shooting that injured a woman Friday in Jeannette.

Police said the shooting started as a child custody incident before 2 p.m. at a North Third Street home.

DeJanette Crosby, 23, was visiting her child at her ex-boyfriend’s home when an argument occurred. Police said Elijah T. Miles, 22, came inside and fired a shot. Both fled in a white PT Cruiser with registration KXK-6169.

Police said they are considered armed and dangerous.

No charges had been filed against them by early Friday evening.

The woman had a leg injury and was taken by ambulance to an area hospital, said Mayor Curtis Antoniak.

It was a surprise to neighbors who described their street as quiet.

“It’s nice and peaceful on this street,” said Jay Hart, who has lived there for three years.

Yellow police tape cordoned off the two-story home where the shooting occurred while investigators worked inside. Hart said the victim just moved there a few months ago.

“It’s tragic,” Antoniak said. “I’m devastated by this.”

Robin Ardellitz was inside her home across the street when she heard a pop. It startled her dog, Nesta. They came outside to see the police activity.

“We just saw that door open,” she said, gesturing across the street.

Miles is described as a black man standing about 6 feet tall and weighing 180 pounds. Crosby is described as a black woman standing about 4 feet 10 inches tall and weighing 140 pounds.

The last known address for both is in Mt. Pleasant.

Anyone with information on their whereabouts is asked to call Jeannette police or 911.
