Penn Township Ambulance technical rescue crews extracted a woman from a vehicle after she crashed over a hillside off of Paintertown Road in Penn Township

A woman who crashed her vehicle over a hillside along Paintertown Road in Penn Township Monday morning is in stable condition, according to Ed Grant, Penn Township Ambulance operations director.

The vehicle went over a steep embankment, rear end first, shortly after 10:45 a.m., traveling about 30 feet down from the surface of the road. It is unclear what caused the vehicle to leave the road, Grant said.

Penn Township Ambulance’s technical rescue team created a rope system and lowered a paramedic down to the vehicle to assess the driver for injuries. She was conscious, alert and talking, Grant said. Her name was not available.

Two Penn Township firefighters secured the vehicle while the technical rescue extracted the woman — who was taken to a local trauma center in stable condition. This took about a half an hour, Grant said.

A tow service pulled the vehicle from the embankment, Grant said. Paintertown Road was closed for about an hour.
