A woman was stabbed at a Greensburg apartment Sunday morning, and police said they seized about 450 stamp bags of drugs during the investigation.

Officers were called to Independence Health Westmoreland Hospital in Greensburg after 9 a.m. and learned the woman had been stabbed in the leg, according to court papers. She told police she was hurt at an Eastmont Drive apartment where Daniel Shane Costello, 30, lives.

Investigators reported finding blood inside the apartment and a kitchen knife with water on it. Costello’s mother told police he admitted to stabbing the woman and requested she be given a ride to the hospital, according to court papers.

Costello claimed the woman stabbed herself, police said. He told authorities the heroin belonged to him for personal use.

He was arraigned Monday on charges of aggravated assault, possession with intent to deliver and related offenses. Bail was set at $75,000. Costello was being held at the Westmoreland County Prison. He didn’t have an attorney listed in online court records.

A preliminary hearing is set for Sept. 4.
