A 24-year-old man is accused of assaulting a man who hired him to do work inside his home, according to court documents.

Demtris D. Spottedbear, 24, whose last known address was in the Latrobe area, was arraigned on charges of aggravated assault, harassment and simple assault after the incident about 6 p.m. Thursday at the residence on Forbes Road.

Ligonier Valley police were called to the home to investigate an assault and discovered Spottedbear walking along the road nearby as they responded.

They discovered the homeowner with a 2-inch gash above his left eye. He was bleeding and his eye was swollen shut, police said. He was taken to Excela Health Latrobe hospital for treatment.

Police said the man hired Spottedbear to do some work at his home and the pair began arguing, leading to the assault.

Spottedbear did not disclose an address to police, but he has resided in the Latrobe area, according to court papers.

He has no prior criminal record in Pennsylvania, according to online court dockets.

Spottedbear was ordered held in the county prison after failing to post $25,000 bond pending a preliminary hearing April 8.
