A A one-day workshop slated for Oct. 25 is aimed at helping community members learn how to tackle a redevelopment project in an effort to address vacant lots being left behind in a large-scale demolition project.
The Westmoreland County Redevelopment Authority and Land Bank is hosting the event at Westmoreland County Community College. The agency is leading a $10.4 million project addressing blight in seven communities.
Officials hope the free project management workshop will empower residents to spearhead vacant lot reuse.
“Our county has many invested, caring residents, business owners and community leaders who are eager to help make redevelopment happen in their communities, but aren’t sure of where to start, or how to successfully manage an entire development project from start to finish,” said Ashley Vidale, agency communications manager.
The workshop is open to county residents, community groups and businesses. Space is limited and pre-registration is required at https://tinyurl.com/2024commdevworkshop. Registration the day of the event will start at 8 a.m. The workshop is expected to wrap up around 3 p.m.
