Yoga, brooms and soup among Westmoreland community events

Classes

• Laurelville Christian Retreat Center, 941 Laurelville Lane, Mt. Pleasant Township, will host an outdoor yoga event Under the Stars Yoga with Find Your Fire Fitness at 7 p.m. Sept. 25 atop Laurelville’s Sunset Hill. Bring a mat. Fruited water will be served. Fundraisers

• Bushy Run Lions Club will sell brooms and garbage bags from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Thursday through Saturday in the parking lot of Schramm’s Farm and Orchards Store, Harrison City-Export Road, Penn Township. Varieties will include household, garage, snow, toy and push brooms. Proceeds benefit Lions charities.

• Laurelville Christian Retreat Center, 941 Laurelville Lane, Mt. Pleasant Township, will host a lunch fundraiser, “Garden Design as If Pollinators Mattered,” at noon Sept. 26 in the Youth Village Pavilion. Garden designer Martha Oliver will be the speaker. • St. John United Church of Christ, 1230 Brownstown Road, North Huntingdon, will sell takeout soup and baked goods from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Saturday at the church. • West Newton Library is asking that no more donations be dropped off until after the Oct. 3 book sale. Books for the sale must be sanitized and they now have as many as can be processed in time.

• A rummage sale will be from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at Fairview Church of God, 2202-2206 Route 982, Mt. Pleasant Township.

Meetings

Special events

• The Clothes Closet at First Baptist Church of Jeannette will distribute free household items from 3 to 6 p.m. Thursday and Friday and 9 a.m. to noon Saturday at the church, 131 N. Second St. Items include clothing for all ages, toys, portable toilets, crutches, books and movies. Please use the side entrance. Face masks required. Capacity will be limited to 15 people at a time.
