The Westmoreland County Coroner on Sunday released the names of four teens killed in a fiery car crash in Sewickley Township early Saturday morning.
The coroner identified them as Brady D. Hunker, 15, of Herminie; Rocco A. Zugai, 18, of West Newton; Felicity M. Martini, 15, of Yukon; and Kylee Nicole Korber, 16, of Smithton.
The crash involved a single vehicle that struck a tree, which was followed by a “very intense” fire, Coroner John Ackerman said.
The crash happened about 3:30 a.m. Saturday in Sewickley Township. Various officials called the road by different names: Derr Road or Creek Road. Ackerman said the crash scene is less than half a mile west of Stone Lane.
According to the coroner, a passing motorist reported the crash and fire. Firefighters put out the fire and found multiple people dead.
The cause and manner of the teens’ deaths were pending autopsy and toxicology results and further investigation, the coroner said.
On Saturday, state police said updates are not expected until early next week.
The teens were students at Yough High School, according to a statement from district Superintendent Anthony R. DeMaro.
The district announced that school will be in session on Monday. Counselors and support staff will be available at the district’s middle and high schools to help grieving students and staff.
“Being together will allow us to provide care, connection and support during this difficult time,” DeMaro’s statement said. “We encourage anyone who is struggling to reach out and take advantage of these supports.”
