Students at Yough High School swept PennDOT’s District 12 Paint the Plow contest, winning Fan Favorite and Judges’ Pick.

This year’s theme was “seat belts are always in season” and students painted on a plow blade a cougar, the school’s mascot, buckling a seat belt amid changing weather.

Students participated in the contest from Albert Gallatin, Fayette Career and Technology Institute, Greater Latrobe, Greensburg Central Catholic, Kiski Area, Laurel Highlands, Penn-Trafford, West Greene and Yough.

Votes were accepted online earlier this month. Yough topped the Fan Favorite category with 4,183 votes from members of the public.

They also won the Judges’ Pick, which is selected by PennDOT representatives. Kiski High School received an honorable mention in the Judges’ Pick category.
