Yough voters gave all four incumbent school board directors another term in Tuesday’s election, according to unofficial results.

Jared Filapose of Sewickley, current board president, led the ticket with 23.3% of the vote, followed by Linda Knor of Herminie at 20.3%. Matt Gardner of South Huntingdon, board vice president, received 20.2%, and Monica Ustazewski of Herminie got 19.9% of the votes.

Jason Cooper of West Newton, running for school board for the second time, came in last at 15.6%, which put him 589 votes behind Ustazewski, the fourth-place finisher.

The advantage of being on the Republican ballot in the Yough School District — consisting of Sewickley and South Huntingdon townships and Arona, Madison, Smithton, Sutersville and West Newton boroughs — was evident in Filapose’s victory.

Filapose, seeking his third term, was the top vote-getter, despite his name appearing just on the Republican ballot. Cooper, who is president of the West Newton council, appeared only on the Democratic ballot.

Knor, Gardner and Ustazewski won the nominations to appear on both ballots in the May primary.
