A Youngstown man is charged with raping a female repeatedly during a nine-year period from 2012 to 2021.

Lee Bowser, 59, was arrested this week on charges of rape, statutory sexual assault, corruption of minors and related offenses, according to court papers.

State police troopers said the accuser told them in March that Bowser forced her to have sex on a weekly basis. Police estimated that the reported assaults began when the girl was 13 and continued until she was about 22.

During a May interview, Bowser admitted to sexually assaulting the woman and was aware he was under investigation.

“‘He said he’ll face the consequences for these incidents, and he wants to make it easier on the (accuser),’” troopers wrote in court papers.

Bowser was being held in the county prison on $25,000 bail. He did not have an attorney listed in online court records. A preliminary hearing is set for Aug. 29.
