What's new at Northland Library in McCandless
Summer hours begin Sunday, May 28 at Northland Public Library, 300 Cumberland Road in McCandless.
Summer hours are:
Sunday – closed; Monday through Thursday, 9 a.m. to 8 p.m.; Friday, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.; Saturday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
The library will be closed on May 28 and on Memorial Day, Monday, May 29.

Super Power summer at Northland – summer reading program begins June 11
Ages 0 to 18
Join us for a summer powered with super-programs, super-crafts, super-books, and super-games. Anytime the library is open and online with Beanstack! Log your reading, activities, and earn raffle tickets on Beanstack! Visit the library for programs, storytimes, activities, and more!
Log every book you read or activity you complete on the Beanstack app. Beginning June 11, sign up and log your books at home. You can also download the Beanstack Tracker App to easily log your books: Google Play or Apple App Store.

Northland Radio Hour: “Witness for the Prosecution”
Monday, May 22 at 6:30 p.m.
Northland staff will perform Agatha Christie’s classic, “Witness for the Prosecution”. Join us in person to watch the recording process or relax, curl up on the couch at home and listen to the drama.
Registration is required. If you prefer to enjoy the performance at home, sign up at bit.ly/NPLWitness to receive the Zoom link the week of the program.
Advances in Breast Imaging
Tuesday, May 23 at 6 p.m.
Chief of the Clinical Breast Division at UPMC, Terri-Ann Gizienski, will talk about new technologies in breast imaging, discuss current recommendations for breast imaging studies and what radiologists look for on breast imagining studies. Registration is required.
Idlewild: History and Memories of Pennsylvania’s Oldest Amusement Park
Thursday, May 25 at 6 p.m.
As the oldest operating amusement park in Pennsylvania and the third oldest in the United States, Idlewild Park has charmed folks across Western Pennsylvania and beyond since the late 19th century. Writer and historian Jennifer Sopko will share the fascinating story of Ligonier’s beloved amusement park along with vintage images gathered during research for her book, “Idlewild: History and Memories of Pennsylvania’s Oldest Amusement Park”.

Daisy Scout Information Session

Interested in Scouting? Representatives from Girl Scouts of Western PA will be on hand to introduce preschool and kindergarten age girls and their parents to Daisy Scouts, the first part of the Girl Scout journey of learning and friendships that last a lifetime. Stop by to do a fun craft and find out more about this first step in Girl Scouting. No registration needed for this drop-in program.

NEW! Tea and Stitches - First Friday each month from 10 a.m. to noon

Whether you enjoy knitting, crocheting, cross-stitching, embroidery, or something in between, join us the first Friday of each month to work on your project while chatting with other crafters!
