New library hours
As of Sept. 10, the Northland Library will open on Sundays. Regular hours beginning that day are:
Sunday – 1 to 5 p.m.
Monday through Thursday – 9 a.m. to 8 p.m.
Friday – 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Saturday – 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
New library catalogue
Allegheny County libraries have a new, easy-to-use catalog. Visit acl.bibliocommons.com to check it out.
Murder in the Stacks: A Northland Mystery Fundraiser
The library’s director has been found murdered, and we need your help discovering who would do such a thing! Can you solve the clues and find the killer before the night is done?
Join us for an interactive murder mystery event to help raise funds for Northland Public Library during September’s Love Your Library campaign. Attendees will enjoy sips, sweets and suspense while solving an original mystery developed by Northland’s amazing Adult Services librarians.
Murder in the Stacks will be held at the library on Saturday, Sept. 9 from 7-9 p.m. Tickets cost $30 per person and go on sale Aug. 1 at: northlandpublic libraryfoundation.salsalabs.org/MurderMystery2023

Great Courses: “The Great Trials of World History and the Lessons They Teach Us”
Tuesdays in August at 10 a.m.
Join Northland staff as we watch lectures from the Great Courses class series “The Great Trials of World History and the Lessons They Teach Us”. Each week, law Professor Douglas O. Linder, J.D. covers a trial or court case from history, and we’ll discuss each together.

Medicare: Putting the Pieces Together
Thursday, Aug. 10 at 6 p.m.
Are you approaching your 65th birthday or over 65 and thinking about retiring? If so, it’s time to think about Medicare. Jack Miner from Clearview Group Advisors will explain how the Medicare system works and how and when to enroll. The talk will describe how supplemental, Medicare Advantage, and prescription drug insurance options work with Medicare but will not recommend specific products during this session.
Book Speed Dating
Thursday, Aug. 31, 6 p.m.
In a reading slump? Looking for book recommendations? Find your perfect match and possibly walk away with the book of your dreams at our book speed dating night! Books of all genres will be looking for a match! Registration is required. Snacks and mocktails will be provided.
Children, ‘Tweens and Teens
Silly Storytime!
Thursday, Aug. 3, 10-11 a.m.
Do you like silly stories? How about silly stories that do not have anything in common? Do you like craft activities? Are you in grades one through five? Then Silly Storytime is for you! Join Ms. Kim for an hour of silliness and crafting. Registration is required. Caregivers are welcome to attend. Please only register the child attending.

Third Monday of each month from 6-7:30 p.m.

Kids in grades kindergarten through 8 may drop in to enjoy chess instruction, chess puzzles, and play pick-up games. No registration is required. Parents of children in grades K through 4 must remain in the building during club time.
