A woman who allegedly carjacked a vehicle in Pittsburgh’s North Side was arrested Friday after fleeing from Pittsburgh police in the stolen vehicle, traveling across the Allegheny River and hitting the exterior of the Omni William Penn Hotel in downtown Pittsburgh, police said.
The incident began when police received a report of a carjacking at about 6 p.m. in the 1100 block of Federal Street in the Central Northside neighborhood. Police followed the vehicle across the Ninth Street Bridge. A felony traffic stop was attempted by officers and Port Authority Police at Penn Avenue and Seventh Street, but the woman fled.
The stolen vehicle hit a police vehicle at the intersection of Grant Street and Fifth Avenue. No injuries were reported by officers.
The suspect continued to drive before colliding with another vehicle and striking the exterior of the Omni William Penn Hotel, at the intersection of Oliver Avenue and William Penn Place.
No injuries were reported.
After a brief struggle, she was arrested after Port Authority Police tased her.
Police said charges will be filed.
