A pedestrian died after she was hit by a car Saturday morning in Pittsburgh’s Carrick neighborhood, according to city police.
Just before 6 a.m., first responders were dispatched to the 1000 block of Brownsville Road in Carrick for reports of a car hitting a pedestrian, according to Emily Bourne, city police spokeswoman.
Upon arrival, crews located a woman in the road with “significant head injuries,” Bourne said. She was taken to the hospital in critical condition, and died from her injuries just after 12:30 p.m.
She was identified as Jacqueline Quinten, 44, of Mt. Oliver, by the Allegheny County Medical Examiner.
Bourne said a 73-year-old man was driving the car northbound on Brownsville Road when he hit Quinten, who was walking in the street. He told police he did not initially see Quinten, who was wearing black clothing, Bourne said.
The man called 911, stayed at the scene and cooperated with police, Bourne said. No charges have been announced.
Police continue to investigate.
