Teen dies after being hit by vehicle in North Versailles

A 17-year-old girl died Monday after being hit by a vehicle in North Versailles, according to Allegheny County Police.

The Allegheny County Medical Examiner identified the girl Tuesday as Kayonna Harper. Her hometown was not provided.

Police said Allegheny County 911 was notified of the collision in the 1700 block of Lincoln Highway shortly before 6:30 p.m.

Harper was taken to an area hospital, which was not identified, where she pronounced dead, police said.

Police said the driver remained at the scene. No information about the driver or vehicle were provided.

Homicide detectives and collision reconstruction officers started an investigation.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call the county police tip line at 833-255-8477. Callers can remain anonymous.
