A woman was transferred to a local hospital following a crash on the Parkway West on Sunday morning, and she was later pronounced dead at the hospital, according to Pennsylvania State Police.

Laurel Ann Cardillo was driving a gray SUV and entered I-376 eastbound in Robinson when she exited the roadway for unknown reasons, said state police.

The SUV then struck the right hand curb, crossed over three lanes and made final contact with the center median, according to police.

Medical officials said Cardillo did not suffer any injuries on the scene, but was taken to a hospital in Sewickley for a possible medical emergency.

She was pronounced dead at the hospital, said police.

The interstate was closed for a time near the crash site.

An investigation is ongoing.
